How does Garmin Navionics+ work?
Garmin Navionics+ is a marine mapping solution that provides superior coverage, clarity, and detail with integrated Garmin and Navionics coastal and inland content. It includes Auto Guidance+ technology, which combines the best features of Garmin and Navionics automatic routing solutions to give a suggested dock-to-dock path to follow through channels, inlets, marina entrances, and more.
The ActiveCaptain Community feature provides community-sourced content with useful points of interest, such as marinas, anchorages, hazards, businesses, and more. Users can get recommendations from boaters with firsthand experience of the local environment.
For improved fishing and navigation, up to 1' contours provide a clear depiction of bottom structure for improved fishing charts and enhanced detail in swamps, canals, harbors, marinas, and more.
Daily Updates are available via the ActiveCaptain app for the freshest chart data every time out. High-resolution depth range shading lets users select up to 10 color shade options and view target depths at a glance.
The Shallow Water Shading feature allows for shading at a user-defined depth to give a clear picture of shallow waters to avoid. The Dynamic Lake Level feature allows users to adjust the map to display the lake’s current water levels to see which areas are accessible or too shallow to explore.
Garmin Navionics+ also includes High-Resolution Relief Shading and High-Resolution Satellite Imagery for superior situational awareness. The Sonar Imagery feature reveals bottom hardness clearly and in contrasting color, highlighting both subtle and dramatic transition areas on select lakes.
Garmin Navionics+ offers an improved look and feel with a vibrant color palette and greater detail of inland and coastal features to deliver a new, on-screen map presentation for more intuitive navigation on the lake or at sea.
What is Garmin Pay?
Garmin Pay is a contactless payment solution that allows users to pay for items at select stores using a Garmin smartwatch. Much like other contactless payment options, the devices use near-field communication (NFC). At the store, a wave symbol on the card reader means it accepts contactless payments. This system for mobile payments works with contactless payment readers, letting you use the Garmin device on your wrist without having to reach for a wallet or your phone. This means that if you're out for a run with your Garmin and nothing else, you're not high and dry - you can still buy a drink or whatever else you need with your Garmin device and nothing else. Garmin Pay works anywhere that accepts contactless payments. Just look for the contactless payments symbol near card readers during checkout. While stores may not have a specific Garmin Pay accepted logo in their window alongside Apple Pay and Google Pay, you should be able to use your Garmin device to pay if you see a contactless payment symbol. To make a payment with Garmin Pay, press and hold the action button on your watch to bring up the Navigation Controls menu. Then, tap the virtual wallet icon and enter your four-digit passcode. You will be prompted to enter your passcode every 24 hours or after every time you put the watch back on after taking it off. Once the wallet is open, your last-used card will automatically appear, but you can always switch to a different card.
How secure is Garmin Pay?
Garmin Pay is designed with privacy and security in mind. The card number is not stored on the device or Garmin’s servers, nor is it given to merchants when the device is used. Instead, watch-specific card numbers and transaction codes are generated every time a purchase is made. Garmin Pay uses near-field communication (NFC) technology to establish a secure connection between the device and the payment terminal. To enhance security, Garmin Pay uses tokenization. Instead of transmitting the actual card details, a unique token is generated for each transaction. The tokenized data is saved in an isolated safety chip in the device. It allows only authorized programs to access its contents, keeping sensitive data from malware or virus. This makes Garmin Pay a more secure, convenient way to pay.
Can I use any credit card with Garmin Pay?
Garmin Pay works with many credit and debit cards from major banks. By adding supported cards into the Garmin Pay wallet, users can enjoy all the rewards and benefits of their physical cards, right on their wrist. More and more banks are supporting Garmin Pay all the time. However, some cards from participating banks might not be supported by Garmin Pay. Users are advised to contact their bank for more information. To check the availability of Garmin Pay for specific cards, users can select their bank location and card type on the Garmin Pay website. Notably, Visa and Mastercard are the two major credit and debit cards that support Garmin Pay.
